My Answer

My life has been one disaster after the other the last few years, mostly because of some dumb decisions I've made. Do you think God is trying to get my attention? I didn't come from a religious family, so I don't know anything about God. — N.M.

Yes, I believe God is trying to get your attention. In fact, God is always trying to get our attention—but sometimes we won't listen until we have to pass through times of hardship or pain.

But why is He trying to get your attention? The reason is because He loves you, and He doesn't want you to go through life simply drifting from one crisis to another. Instead, He wants you to build your life on a solid foundation—the foundation of His truth. If God didn't love you, He wouldn't bother trying to get your attention. But he does love you, and I pray you will listen to what He wants to say to you.

What is He saying? First, He wants you to realize that you need Him. You need God's forgiveness, and you need His guidance and direction in life. More than that, you need Him for eternity. You were not made just for this life—you were made for eternity, and God wants you to be with Him forever in heaven.

Second, God wants you to realize that He loves you, and His Son, Jesus, came into the world to bridge the gap between you and God. The Bible says, "For Christ died for sins once for all ... to bring you to God" (1 Peter 3:18). Ask Christ to come into your life, and then ask God every day to help you learn to be His follower.

Reading this has filled me with hope. I am married with one son and I have one on the way. I am currently the only one working and we are behind in so many bills. It can be very overwhelming at times but I'm trying to stay hopeful.

Dear Friend as I read your question it brought me through 68 years of living om His grace. Mistakes and the lessons I learned have brought me closer in the long run to the ONE that first loved me. I don't ask why any more I just say teach me more. He is a loving God and sometimes we just need to slow down and remember from where He has brought us to. Praise His holy name. "The Lord is my light and salvation, who shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life of whom shall I be afraid?"Ps 27:1-2 His mercies ARE new every morning!

I have done some things that I am not proud of, and I feel that this life is about learning. I know deep down that the Lord has spared my life from the deepest darkest tunnel I was in. Now I understand and know that he rescued me from harm and possibly death. He loves us so much and hurts when we hurt. Praise him at all times. Thanking God for all his blessings not forgetting where I've been but looking forward to where I am going.Thank you Jesus for showing me your precious light in the mist of so much darkness.

I have gone through this kind of situation. Today I really really understand the true love of JESUS on the cross. I used to run behind the world and worldly things for a long time. But during my trial now, I understand that HE pulled me towards his everlasting love. I trust HIM with my whole heart and i will trust him only. HE only can deliver me from all evils/troubles. Jesus is my saviour, my love and my everything.

I read this story and it was just what I needed to hear. I have been living my life from what seems like one crisis to another and now I find myself at one of the lowesr points in my life. I have no friends, no family, no support system, no one I can really turn to - except to turn my life over to God. And that is exactly what I did. I was so low that I thought about taking my life because I could see no end in sight but I believe that God did this in my life to wake me up to the truth. I have surrendered everything to Him and it is the best thing I ever could have done. Yes, I still have problems that I need to deal with but to have God on your side is like having what I like to call my "Silent Partner". Without Him I could do nothing.
