Even if you hadn't been caught, it still wasn't worth it and was wrong, because the risk was too high—both to you, and to those you might have hurt or killed in an accident.

We've become so used to reports about highway accidents caused by alcohol that we sometimes forget how devastating they are to countless thousands of families every year. Yes, you are paying for your foolish action—but think how much worse it could have been, both for you and the family of someone you might have killed. The Bible wisely says, "Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? ... Those who linger over wine" (Proverbs 23:29-30).

Yes, I hope you have learned through this experience—and that others will learn from it as well. But more than that, I hope you've learned something even more important—and that is your need for God. You need His forgiveness, and you need the new life He alone can give.

God loves you, and He doesn't want you to drift aimlessly through life. Christ came to make your forgiveness possible, and to put your feet on a new path. Don't stay on the dead-end road you are on any longer, but turn to Christ and give your life to Him.
