My Answer

I know the Bible teaches that Jesus will return to earth some day, and when He does He will rule over everything and bring judgment on evildoers. But will He warn people somehow before that day comes, so they can be ready? — B.B.

God has already given us all the warning we need to be ready for Christ's return. Jesus said, "So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him" (Matthew 24:44).

The problem isn't that God's Word hasn't already warned us, for it has. It even says that before Christ comes again, God in His grace will give us other signs to indicate that Christ's return is rapidly approaching. For example, Jesus said, "You will hear of wars and rumors of wars ... Nation will rise against nation ... There will be famines and earthquakes in various places" (Matthew 24:6-7). In light of today's headlines, don't those words warn us that Jesus could return at any moment?

The problem is that most people will ignore those warnings. They may even mock and laugh at those who say Jesus will return. But the Bible warns that for them "the day of the Lord will come like a thief" (2 Peter 3:10). They have spent a lifetime ignoring God—and suddenly Christ will come again and it will be too late.

Don't let that happen to you. Some day you will enter eternity—either when Christ comes again, or through death. Are you ready for that day? You can be, by turning to Christ and giving your life to Him today.
