How can I witness for Christ?

Witnessing is a vital part of the Christian life; the Bible teaches that the true believer will desire to share with others what God has done for him; read John 4:28-30,39-42 and 1 John 1:1-4.

God commands us and empowers us to be His witnesses (Matthew 4:19 and Acts 1:8). Our testimony may not always be accepted, but through the Holy Spirit we can receive power to live a victorious Christian life and serve Christ effectively; read Ephesians 5:18 and Luke 11:13.

Here are a few suggestions that might help you to lead others to Christ: Live a consistent Christ-centered life (Matthew 5:17); be a friend and a good listener; pray that the Holy Spirit will give opportunity for witness and prepare the individual to receive the Word of life (John 16:7-11); and avoid arrogance and preachiness.

You should pray daily for the people on your prayer list and ask God for wisdom as you share Christ with them; read James 1:5, 3:17.

I praise God for all things, because He is the author and finisher of our faith. It was good to read all of these testimonies I thought I was one of the few who had problems witnessing, but now I know to keep on praying !

To those who desire to witness for Christ: 1. Pray to God for strength; if you try it alone; it doesn't seem to work. 2. Remember: God saves the person, you just help point the way. May God grant us all strength for our witness!

I desire to share the gospel with all of those I come in contact with and have done so. However, because of my bitterness towards my husband I feel that I should not continue. I feel like a hypocrite.

If God is for us, who can stand against us? Keep using what God has given you to reach those around you. If you want to stand up for Christ when everyone around you wants you to sit down, then stand up. God is faithful.

I have no problem talking about GOD with people I know well, but when it comes to strangers I freeze, too shy. So I purchase Christian Tracts online and I leave them everywhere I go. In restaurants, bathrooms, and Dr. offices.

my desire is to see all that are lost saved. every chance I get I share my story of God healing me on my death, it brings about a change in others as it puts my closer to Him and give me the desire to continue telling the GOOD NEWS OF GOD!

We have a great enemy who wants us to always feel we have missed the mark. We, Christ's disciples aren't perfect, He is and will work through us as we trust daily. Wake daily asking to be led by His Spirit and it will be done. Believe Beyond Reason!

Helen says 5.30.2012, 10:44 p.m.

I am still growing in my attempt to share Christ and I'm now 66 years old. I no longer feel condemned, but have been set free to be who I am in Christ...and to be more intentional and confident in sharing the good news.

we only live once the time we spend now is the most important that we spend our time serving the lord!!! i thought life was about all the pleasures and lust of the world but when the lord blessed me with brain cancer i found Jesus and he is love of my life

I Found Jesus a Few Months Ago he changed my life i mean he flipped my life around i was always under the impression that we live we work we die that's the point of life, but now i enjoy waking up every day and trying to serve the LORD we only live once

Please pray that the Lord surrounds my family and friends with people that know and love Him and pray that He will use me to share the Good News to others. My family thinks I think about God, Jesus and eternity too much.

"To travel through the desert with others, to find a spring, to drink of it, and not tell the others that they may be spared is exactly the same as enjoying Christ and not telling others about him" - Corrie Ten Boom

I have a strong desire to share the gospel and lead unsaved souls to Jesus but when the opportunity comes, I struggle so much.but I learned that it's one step at a time and God will take care of the rest.

Travis says 12.30.2011, 11:00 p.m.

I have been saved for over 22 years. I have sometimes wondered, "Have I ever led anyone to Christ?" I really don't know. No one has ever told me that I had led them to Christ. I know that I need to be a witness, not just to witness. Pray for me!

Chuck says 12.6.2011, 11:28 a.m.

I accepted Christ as a child. Decades later I still can't find words of "testimony"- No dramatic moment, so it is difficult to "witness"; but the Grace of God has shown me that planting is not preaching, rather simply including HIM in conversation.

To those of you who are discouraged, I plead with you not to give up. Keep praying and keep trying and God will use you.

I am a living witness that if we purpose in our hearts to be that light that shines in a dark place - we will. Just be consistent in your prayer-life, walking upright before God, and He will give you the opportunity, strength and courage. Isaiah 55:10,11

Josefina says 9.3.2011, 11:22 a.m.

I want to witness about how God made a difference in my life. I shared this with a friend of mine but she was not too enthusiastic. I felt down. Then God reminded me that I sowed the seed and He'll take it from there. I prayed and still praying that someday someone will harvest. I still witness sometimes with much apprehension but with prayers and God's guidance.

If you think it's hard to witness in college you ought to see about a workplace where almost all of my co-workers are proclaimed atheists. In fact one of my coworkers left Christianity on purpose. I'm praying for discernment, a gentle heart and a strong witness. At least in college you won't be expelled for sharing. I could lose my job if someone complained.

Naomi says 6.13.2011, 9:05 p.m.

I am so glad to see that there are others who struggle with being a witness for Christ. I keep thinking that someone will say that I haven't been all that I'm suppose to be in Christ. I keep thinking that the right words won't come out, because I have a tendency to struggle with my words they get tangled and they don't seem to make sense even after I have spoken them. How can I overcome this fear and start being a witness for Christ?

Tracy says 5.20.2011, 3:28 p.m.

I have a strong desire to share the Word of the Lord, yet am also held back and persecuted as my mind tells me to go for it and yet my mouth says (or rather does not say it) no. I believe that in due time and be it of God's will and through earnest prayer one day I will shine the light of Jesus. It is His plan and His creation. The glory is all His and one day We shall see His wonderful works unfold. And maybe just maybe you have, through Him, done an amazing act of God through a smile, an I love you, a hug, or perhaps just a simple "hello"-so don't be discouraged and make sure that you pray and keep on fighting te good fight. Peace Brothers and Sisters in Christ.

I am sooo excited to read some of these comments because I know I'm not the only one who struggles to witness! I feel like a failure because I don't feel I've taken every oppurtunity to share Christ, but I believe God is helping me and all of us to get ready to be bold, glowing witnesses for Him! The Bible says:"Is anything to hard for God?" I just wanted to encourage all of you to keep praying, believing, and living Christ because He will shine through especially in our darkest times!

Sometimes we have to be a Mary, sometimes a Martha. I think women in particular struggle with the issue of trying to be too perfect and worry about everything, and when I get that way I just read about Mary and Martha, and what Jesus had to say. Mary sat at his feet eager to hear his words, and Jesus spoke to Martha as a child, but told her Mary had found the good part, in listening to him. I think some days we are Martha and some days we are Mary. I think we need to just sit at his feet and listen in our hearts.

Kathy says 2.9.2011, 8:28 p.m.

I too desire the Word more than anything...but I can be so undisciplined at times...that holds back my ability to be used by God to evangelize...My husband and daughter will not surrender their wills to the Lord...but I learned long ago not to force the issue...it is so burdensome to me, I just try to be an example of who God created me to be and to try to allow the Holy Spirit to use me as I go along...I know that He will use me when He's ready. It is He that is the author and perfecter of my faith.

Valerie, I pray that God may grant you with the strength and courage to share His love to others. Just continue to pray, if you desire to witness, God will surely give the desire of your heart. God bless

I feel the same as all of you. Just this morning in my prayer I asked God for wisdom and courage, to speak boldly about the Gospel. I also know that I must consistently study His word.

SANDRA says 1.22.2011, 1:14 p.m.

I sort of feel uncomfortable talking to someone about Christ. I am afraid my words won't come out like I would like or I will make someone mad or want to argue. I try to be an example in the way I live and would really like to talk with the unsaved about our lord. I tell them God loves them and from there I am at a lost how to continue. Any suggestions anyone?

Donna says 1.22.2011, 08:07 a.m.

Prayer is the answer to all our questions and I am convinced that if we ask God earnestly for the courage and wisdom to evangelize he will give us that gift.

Lorna says 1.21.2011, 1:03 p.m.

I somehow share all your views. With Elizabeth i do desire so much to share the gospel, i share it with my co-workers family members but am not sure if they are convince or really realise how important serving God is. My husband thinks am crazy and that I want to go too far with christianity. God has really change my life, it has been 1 year now and am so happy i take that step. I really desire to evangelize. I just really need the help and spiritual guidance.

Miriam says 1.15.2011, 1:11 p.m.

I have such an urgency in my heart, that has literally taken control of my will. Yes in the past I was an under the bush type of believer. Now; I can not stop talking about his goodness. I am being persecuted by it(so what). Due to all the healing that has taken place in my heart, I do not care what no says about me. I know my God is real, I felt the comforter Jesus Christ comfort me. I will never stop speaking about what Jesus did for us on the cross. AND HE IS NOT DEAD! In him I have my being, without him I know I am nothing!

Christine says 1.13.2011, 5:03 p.m.

Valerie, thank-you for your honesty! I resonate deeply with what you said, and also struggle with perfectionism and balance. I just want to say that I think you're right that this is a lie from the enemy, because the enemy wants to discourage us! I am encouraged by 1 Peter 5:7-11, and 1 Thess. 5:24: "The One who calls you is faithful and He will do it." God has called us to evangelize, yet we cannot do it in our strength but only in God's strength, Who is faithful to do it!

Valerie says 1.2.2011, 06:02 a.m.

I have been saved for 16 years. Never once led anyone to Christ. I am 43 and feel like I have wasted so much time, but that can't be true. I beginning to think this is a lie from the enemy or my perfectionism. Not that I haven't had change in my life throughout the years. It is so hard to balance earthly and spiritual responsibilities.

Elizabeth says 11.4.2010, 12:11 a.m.

I desire to share the Gospel! yet im struggling to evangilize in my college. Its not the same when your with church friends and when your alone. I desire to see God heal the sick! God grant me boldness! Start Revival in my college through me!
