I don't always feel saved. How can I be sure I am?

Mr. Graham has responded in the following way to one who needed assurance about whether he was truly saved: "I believe one of the oldest tricks of the devil is to make Christians doubt their salvation. When we doubt our salvation, we doubt God's Word, and when we doubt God's Word, we are powerless and ineffective tools for Christ.

"A lot of people believe they are saved only if they have some powerful emotion or overwhelming feeling. However, every Christian has times when feelings are not strong, no matter what our experiences may have been in the past. But it is not our feelings that save us—it is Christ.

"How can we know we are really saved? Because God's Word tells us, and God cannot lie. If you have put your personal faith and trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, the Bible says God has made you a member of His family. 'God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life ... These things I have written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life' (1 John 5:11-13). As someone once said, 'God said it—I believe it—that settles it!'

"Remember that God loves you. And if you begin to doubt, remember the promises He has made to you and the way He loves you. Learn to thank Him for that love. When we know Christ, nothing 'shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord' (Romans 8:39)."

Jesus said ask and you shall receive seek and you shall find. If we as Jesus to forgive us of our sins his word tells us that he is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins. This is a promise that was made to us.

I believe I am saved and I trust Christ with this. But my pastor keeps saying that if we don't do good works and love our neighbor enough, God will sever that relationship. What do you say to help

I always thought I was a Christian until 3 yrs ago I felt the presence of God and he showed me my sins. I bawled my eyes out and begged for forgiveness. I felt like a horrible sinner. I have had a hard time believing I have been forgiven.

Jane, ask your son why he doesn't want to go. His answer may surprise you: "Because I don't want to be told I'm not saved. I want to be able to "feel" it without doubt." Not those words exactly but you get the gist.

I have dealt with this feeling of uncertainty also! I was saved and baptized as a child. I also have strayed away. I know in my heart that I love God and believe in his word. I have accepted the gift and I trust him.

I have always wondered if a person can lose their salvation or not. I have heard many people say they can and many say they cannot. I've heard that if a person completely turns away from God, they were never saved in the first place. And if a person has truly given their life to Christ, they will never fall away. Psalm 37:31 says "The law of God is in his heart, none of his steps shall slide." Does this mean that if a person truly knows God in his heart, he will never turn away from God and therefore not lose their salvation?

My son has been told by his Sunday School teacher that he can remove his salvation. What verses can I produce to help my son refute this? I see the work of the Holy Spirit in his life, and he is sure Jesus is his Savior, but now he doesn't want to go to youth group!
