Can a person be saved more than once?

Some people who truly repent of their sin and receive Jesus as their Savior and Lord fall into sin and then feel that they must be saved all over again. This is not the case. The Bible says, "My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One" (1 John 2:1). Also, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).

Mr. Graham has said, "Christian conversion is the transformation which we experience when we are born of God. Since one is not born over and over again, we must think of Christian development in two phases: birth and growth. A child, for example, is born once. True, he falls down many times, but when he falls he doesn't need to be born again. His falls, his bumps and bruises are all part of growing. So it is in the Christian life. Birth is sudden, once and for all, but development is the work of an entire lifetime. We can be converted in a moment: the precise moment that we accept Christ. But it takes a lot of prayer, Bible reading, church-going, and Christian service to make a mature Christian."

Heb.10:26-39 deals with some among the Hebrew believers who had heard the gospel and still went to temple to sacrifice for sins. They turned their back on Jesus' once and for all blood sacrifice which takes away our sins when we accept Him. Finished.

Salvation is the long suffering of Christ. We do not wield it's power. If we could, then we would have to get saved everyday and would never really know. It is the power of GOD. Our human nature believes we can lose it, our lack of faith.

Robbie, I understand your doubts as I went through a long period of darkness over this very portion of Scripture. Please understand that the letter was originally addressed to a group of Jews (Hebrews), some of whom were converted, some who were considering conversion , and some who were tempted to turn back to the system of animal sacrifice because of persecution. Hebrews 10:26-31 is specifically written to those who were in danger of rejecting Christ and turning back to the Levitical system. Once born of the spirit, we are secure in that standing. Read the whole book of Hebrews - it speaks over and again of our great security provided by the once-for-all sacrifice of Jesus. Also read Romans 8.

I'm saved. But I had a fall. And if I come back, will the person whom I love so much be able to stand firm?

Robbie, I believe the verses you speak of in Hebrews are referring to someone who deliberately ignores God's word, and continues to sin without any concern. Here is another helpful verse....."If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).

Very true, I like the second paragraph. I got saved when I was ten and I thought that I should get saved again. Very helpful, thanks Billy

I recently had a preacher tell me that he did not believe that once saved you were always saved. He showed me alot of verses in the Bible that seemed to back up his belief. Hebrews 10:26-39 to mention one in particular. Know I'm having doubts and confusion about my salvation.
