Rapid Response Team Fredericktown, MO Update
More spiritual harvest in the wake of the storm
May 27, 2009 - On May 8, violent thunderstorms throughout parts of Illinois and Missouri caused several deaths and extensive property damage. The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association Rapid Response Team (RRT) continues to minister to residents of Fredericktown, MO in the wake of these storms. Read below for a few ministry updates.
Brothers commit their lives to Christ
RRT chaplains visited a man named Tim. The yard around his older mobile home is full of fallen trees, including some that fell onto cars that Tim has been repairing. As the chaplains spoke with Tim, they shared about Christ. They were ready to review the pamphlet, Steps to Peace with God, when Tim's nephews, ages 10 and 6, came and sat on the old car parked in the front driveway that Tim was leaning on.
The chaplains introduced themselves to the boys and invited them to follow along in the pamphlet. Listening intently, and looking at the pictures, the boys understood the truth about sinfulness, and that God was offering them the free gift of salvation through Jesus. The chaplains asked each of the boys if they would like to invite Jesus into their hearts, and both boys eagerly said "yes."
After praying to receive Christ into their hearts, both boys were given a youth Bible. The boys have indicated that they are excited about coming to church and learning more about God.
Abandoned husband trusts Christ to see him through
As RRT chaplains were completing a visit to a home, a car from next door sped away quickly. They decided to walk over and speak with the group gathered outside. Among the group was Bruce, the home owner. His wife had just told him she was leaving him and their two young daughters and sped away.
The chaplains spoke with Bruce and learned that he had received Christ just a few days before. Bruce was upset about his wife, but said that he has great faith that Christ will see him through this trial. The chaplains prayed with Bruce about his family and praised God for his newfound faith.
A few days later, the chaplains saw Bruce again, and he was doing well, and trusting God.
