Several times each year, Billy Graham television specials are broadcast on network stations throughout the United States and Canada, and a toll-free number appears on the screen inviting people to call to begin a relationship with Jesus Christ. Viewers who call this number are eager to talk with someone about the lifesaving power of Jesus Christ. Trained TV Telephone Ministry volunteers answer these calls.

Training: With training from the Billy Graham team, you will be ready and equipped to help callers respond to the Gospel message. Simply attend one of our free volunteer training sessions, where you will receive practical instruction to help you answer callers’ questions about various topics including drug abuse, depression, and God’s will.
Materials: When you attend a training session, you will be given a complimentary copy of The Billy Graham Christian Worker’s Handbook to assist you as you serve.
Prerequisites for Volunteering: Each volunteer must complete an application form and attend one of the free training sessions. Telephone volunteers must be Christians who wholeheartedly trust the Bible as God’s Word and who are at least 18 years of age. To volunteer, you must submit an application that is signed by your pastor or other church leader.

History:
In 1980, a handful of employees at the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) headquarters set up a few telephones and hoped that the local telecast would generate some responses. Soon, an avalanche of calls overwhelmed these volunteers, and within months, 200 telephones were installed and operating at the BGEA headquarters. Telephone centers around the country were later opened to keep up with the demand.
Today, phone centers across North America are filled several times a year with hundreds of trained volunteers responding to the thousands of calls for help, salvation, and comfort during every telecast.
In 2006, the BGEA aired seven prime-time television specials featuring messages from Billy and Franklin Graham, musical performances, and powerful testimonies. After watching BGEA telecasts in 2006, more than 45,500 people called our phone centers to make decisions for Jesus Christ and pray with trained volunteers. More than 130,000 viewers called and requested the free book offered during these TV specials.
Thus far in 2007—as a result of Billy Graham TV Classics and also January, March, and June national telecasts—more than 29,800 people have called in to TV Telephone Ministry call centers, and more than 15,800 made a spiritual commitment to Jesus Christ. In addition to receiving calls, volunteers also are continuously praying for those who call in to receive spiritual help.
In 2007, remaining television specials will air September 8–16 and December 1–9. These programs reach millions of homes with the message of Jesus Christ. Thousands more heard the Gospel through weekly broadcasts of classic Billy Graham Crusades on TBN.
