Chaplains and Ministry Volunteers Needed
We are accepting applications for future deployments (dates and locations to be determined). Volunteers will serve in these capacities:
- Chaplain — An experienced FBI, police, fire, or military chaplain or a Christian counselor, hospice worker, pastor, or ministry leader trained in crisis intervention or chaplaincy training
- Ministry Volunteer — A ministry leader with a heart and compassion for people

Frequently Asked Questions
Will I work with a team?
Yes, you will be assigned to a team of 2-5 people. Ministry each day would include:
- Pray for one another each day
- Visit families in follow-up to work Samaritan’s Purse has done
- Listen to the stories of people who have lost everything
- Pray, encourage, and share the comfort and hope of Jesus Christ
- Encourage and minister to first responders such as pastors, police officers, and firemen
- Keep records of your contacts and ministry opportunities
What will my daily schedule include?
- Early morning devotions and prayer
- Breakfast (fruit and cereal)
- Team assignments
- Daily ministry
- Dinner
- Evening debriefing and prayer
Can I bring my spouse?
Yes, if he or she goes through the application process. Spouses must submit an application and be approved as a chaplain. Note: Sleeping accommodations will be separate for men and women.
What will be provided by BGEA?
- Assist with travel and directions
- Orientation training upon arrival
- Accommodations (cot or air mattress) at a local church with hot showers, breakfast, and dinner
- Rapid Response Team shirts (2 per week) and credentials
- Limited funds are available to assist with travel needs
- Reimbursement for meals and gasoline whether you choose to drive your own car or use a rental car (must submit itemized receipts for re-imbursements)
- Note: All other expenses must be pre-approved for reimbursement
What do I need to bring? - Bible
- Personal items, toiletries, towel, etc.
- Set of sheets or sleeping bag and pillow for your cot or air mattress
- Appropriate clothing:
- Women: Pants, skirts, jeans, or capris are OK (no shorts)
- Men: Jeans or khaki slacks are OK (no shorts); sport coat and tie are requested (you may be asked to speak in churches)
Will there be laundry facilities?
Laundry facilities are limited.
Is phone service available?
Yes, in all locations.
Where are chaplains being deployed at this time?
