“Trained at The Cove to be "His Presence in Crisis", I instead found myself in His presence, as a personal witness to the goodness and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ in the untiring compassion of the staff and volunteers onsite, and being awesomely humbled by the shining faith of Hurricane Katrina's survivors. Returning to my local church, I told my congregation, “I have seen a small corner of the Kingdom of God on earth, in the aftermath of a tempest [that left people] with the only thing that truly matters ... God.” At worship service that same Sunday morning ... 87 members of our congregation came forward to commit their lives to Christ. Thanks be to God, and to the Billy Graham Evangelical Association's Rapid Response Chaplaincy, my life, and the life of my church, have been changed ... for all eternity. ”

“But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.’” —Matthew 9:36–38 (NKJV)
