Evangelistic events are a unique opportunity to tell people
in your area about Jesus Christ and the meaning He gives to
life. It is a process that will bring hope, strength and encouragement
to local churches. Not surprisingly, significant financial
resources are needed to plan, organize, promote and conduct
such an event. It is important to know how those funds are
used and who is responsible for them.
How
Funds Will Be Used
An evangelistic event is a costly investment. Expenses are
incurred throughout the months of planning prior to the
event, during the event, and also during the follow-up
activities.
Some savings can be realized through the purchase,
at cost, of printed materials from the Billy Graham Evangelistic
Association. The majority of expenditures are incurred
locally.
Evangelists receive no money from the local event.
Billy Graham and Franklin Graham are paid annual
salaries.
How the Funds Will Be Managed
Each event is incorporated as a non-profit organization in
the location in which it takes place. These organizations
issue receipts for income tax purposes.
Each event is guided by a local committee which has
been carefully selected for their unique qualifications
and experiences. The committee has many different responsibilities
and functions, one of which is to prepare a budget and
manage expenditures.
The committee ensures fiscal control in three ways.
First, the committee bears all responsibility to raise all
funds required to defray the costs invested in the event.
Second, the committee provides opportunities for individuals
and churches within the community to support the event through
financial contributions. Third, the committee takes measures
to ensure that the funds are handled according to the highest
ethical standards.
A local accounting firm reviews all expenditures and
prepares an audit at the conclusion of each event. The audit
is then published in the local press. Copies of each event's
final audit are made available to the public upon request.
How to Join Us
A ministry of this magnitude is dependent upon the prayers
and involvement of thousands of committed people. For all
of us, each evangelistic event provides a wonderful opportunity
to impact our local areas with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
For more information about how you can be involved
in supporting these evangelistic events, please see the
event Web site. |
